Institute for Learning Differences

The Institute for Learning Differences, a division of the Thomas More Success Center, offers a comprehensive program designed to support students with documented learning differences on their journey to achieve a college education.

Mission Statement

The Institute for Learning Differences strives to promote success for university students with documented learning differences by offering learner-centered support in the areas of academics, social and life skills growth, and executive function development.

The ILD will fulfill its mission by offering a comprehensive program which includes professional tutoring, academic and life coaching, and assistive technology; all coordinated through a strategic learning specialist. The Institute will also serve as a resource for the faculty and staff of Thomas More, as well as the community at large. In addition to our goal of assisting students with learning differences such as language-based learning challenges, ADHD, Asperger’s and other Autism Spectrum Disorders we are helping students find their place on campus and in the world.**

How to Apply to the ILD

The Institute for Learning Differences (ILD) is designed for students with a diagnosed learning difference who have at least average intellectual learning abilities. This fee-based program provides best practices and researched-based approaches to best support those students striving for college success. To ensure our team is fully prepared to best serve the students in the program, the applications are carefully evaluated to identify whose needs best match the services offered by the ILD. All applicants must submit supporting documents as well as an application for admissions to °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ.

  • Application to the Institute for Learning Difference (DOC / PDF)
  • Copies of Psychoeducational Testing, ETR or MFE – including diagnosis
  • School History Form (DOC / PDF)
  • Handwritten Essay
  • $30 non-refundable application fee

Additional Processes

  • Application to Thomas More – must be completed to be considered for participation in the ILD
  • ILD interview – Call to schedule
  • FERPA form – upon acceptance; optional
