Dual Credit College Prep Program

Thomas More’s Dual-Credit Program offers rising high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to avoid summer melt and to prepare for the future through the College Prep Program. This specialized program helps students stay academically engaged during the summer while learning skills they will need to succeed in college, all while earning college credit!

By participating in the Thomas More Dual Credit College Prep Program, students:

  • Gain experience and build confidence in a college setting
  • Earn °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ college credits
  • Receive personal and academic support by °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼×ÊÁÏ faculty, staff, and their peers
  • Learn to navigate the structure and rigor of college
  • Engage in valuable out-of-high school programming geared towards academic success and personal development
  • Access campus resources and services to help students smoothly transition into dual-credit and their first year of college
  • Experience all of this and more at a significantly reduced rate

This special program admits students with an unweighted high school GPA of 2.5 or higher. Interested/qualifying students are identified through representatives at their high school. Ideally, preference will be given towards first generation students and students coming from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Students should indicate their interest to their school counselor and complete the . School counselors should submit the student’s high school transcript. Thomas More’s Dual-Credit office will be responsible for reviewing, admitting and enrolling students into the College Prep Program.

During the summer between sophomore and junior year, students enroll in one college preparatory dual-credit course on campus and have the option of taking an additional course.

During the summer between junior and senior year, students may elect to continue the college prep program where they enroll in one or more general education course(s) and work with an admissions counselor to prepare for application/admission to Thomas More.

The cost for this program follows the dual-credit tuition rate determined by KHEAA prior to each academic year. Since the KHEAA Dual-Credit Scholarship does not cover summer courses, students are responsible for the cost of tuition unless covered by their school district. Additional costs to students may include books and/or course materials.
